April 23, 1932 – May 8, 2023 (age 91)
Ruth Lee Fankhouser, 91, of Mingo Junction, OH passed away on May 8, 2023. She was born in
New Martinsville, WV, to the late Marion R. Fankhouser and Ida I. (Prunty) Fankhouser. She
was proceeded in death by brothers Marion Fankhouser and George Fankhouser and by her
sisters Gwen Tustin (Frankhouser), and Wanda Miller (Fankhouser). Ruth is survived by her sons
Daniel Goodpaster of Mingo Junction, OH and Donald (Carol) Goodpaster of Marengo, OH,
Grandchildren Matthew, Erin, Kaitlyn, Jerry and Madi, and Great Grandchildren Liam, Corey,
Bob, Mac, Cillian, Libby, Shaun, and Daisy. All who love Grandma Ruth very much.
Ruth worked hard every day of her life, until she couldn’t. She owned and operated Mingo R&L
Florist, Isaly’s of Mingo, and Matt and Erin’s Coffee Shop. Ruth also retired from Timet in
Toronto, OH, served Jefferson County in the Emergency Management Agency, and worked for
Prime Time Senior Services, delivering meals to anyone in Jefferson county that was
homebound.
Anyone who knew Ruth … knew Ruth. What you saw was what you got. She spent her entire
life serving others and asking for nothing in return. Those who truly knew her, loved her.
Those that didn’t know her or chose not to, missed out on something special. Her goals in life
were to create the best life possible for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and
to treat everyone with unselfish respect and dignity. She can rest easy knowing that she
achieved those goals, and so much more. Her spirit will live on in every life she touched.
Ruth’s final wishes reflect the way she lived her life. No fanfare. She will be laid to rest with
her mother and father at a private ceremony in New Martinsville, WV. In lieu of cards or
flowers, do something nice for someone, in her memory. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
