Rita Ann (Buchmelter) Castanon'

Rita Ann (Buchmelter) Castanon', 77, of Chicago, IL passed away on July 30, 2021 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital.  Rita was born on December 30, 1943 to the late John Francis and Mary Magdalene (Jarzabek) Buchmelter.  She was also preceded in death by her three sisters Dolores Stewart, Mary Kay Buchmelter, and "Clemmie" Caccaciaro.  Rita worked for St. Johns Hospital for 25 years as head secretary of home health care, was a member of St. Agnes, went to St. Agnes grade school, and graduated class of 1961 Catholic Central High School. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Martin T. Castanon' whom she met while working at the hospital. She is also survived by two children Maribeth Rupert of Pittsburgh, PA, and Keith Allan Scott of Brilliant, three grandchildren Echo Marie (Richard Davis) Scott of Brilliant, Eain Nathanal Landis of Steubenville, Keith Scott Jr. of Brilliant,  three great grandchildren  Connor Scott, Maddison Kay, and Iva Alexander Scott of New Alexandria,  one brother John F "Boom Boom" Buchmelter of Mingo Jct., several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wednesday August 4, from 4 to 8 pm (Vigil Services to Start at 5 pm ) at the Schuetz Funeral Home 235 Clifton Ave. Mingo Jct.,  and on Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church  from 10 am until time of funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 am with  Father James Dunfee Celebrant. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
