Debra L (Yanda) Bailey

September 28, 1953 ~ August 13, 2023 (age 69) 69 Years Old


Debra L. Bailey, 69, of Dillonvale passed away Sunday August 13, at her home.  Debbie was born September 28, 1953 to her late parents Donald Joseph and Dolores Jean (Kirkpatrick) Yanda.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents Woodrow and Margaret (Core) Kirkpatrick, Who Raised her.  A sister Ginger Sanz and brother Kirk Yanda.  Debbie is survived by her daughters Julieanne (Scott) Slie of New Martinsville WV, Karianne (Kevin) Mays of Grove City, Ohio.   Her beloved grandchildren Zackary and Bailey Slie, Garrett, Sawyer and Sylvie Margaret Mays.  Her sisters Geri (Jim) Slivinski of Dillonvale, Terri Yanda and Donna Yanda of Apopka FLA.  Nephew Bryan Pensis of Dillonvale, Niece Stephanie (Josh) Rainey and great nephew Maddox of Mt. Washington KY.  

Debbie was a graduate of Dillonvale High School Class of 71.  She was a member of the honor society, cheerleader and class officer.  She remained close to many of her classmates and was active in planning their class reunions.  Debbie served as an EMT for Dillonvale EMS, and was known as the "Mascot" for the 660th out of Cadiz for whom she planned many reunions. 

Debbie loved shopping and her thoughtfulness was felt by many.  She often explained to young girls how important math was in figuring out the sale discounts.  Debbie always had a card in the mail to those she cared about, be it for a birthday, get well, sympathy, or just to cheer you! Debbie loved crafting and many received her handmade "button" shirts. Debbie worked her entire life, as a teen at Kings Jewelry, Holly Memorial Gardens, Valley Distributors.   She retired from Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority where she rose through the ranks to become Director.  Debbie also held a degree from Belmont Tech for Computer programming.  Debbie loved telling stories about her grandchildren, and about the family  "defective gene' She so wanted to start a historical society for the Village of Dillonvale.  Debbie could text as fast as she could talk and many phone conversations would last for hours.  The memories are many, through good times and bad.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
