William Ancil Simmons Jr.

William A. Simmons Jr., 88, of Mingo Jct., OH passed in the hands of his Lord and Savior on April 29, 2026 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville after a brief illness.   He was born at home in Mingo Jct, the oldest of five brothers, to the late Ancil and Gladys (Hanlon) Simmons. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Patty P.J. Simmons, son Richie Scaffidi, and three of his brothers, Tom (Tommy) Simmons and Eddie Ray and Fred Conners.  

Bill is survived by his daughters Joyce (Steve) Tennant of Wellsburg, Catherine Scaffidi Balzano (Joseph) of Mingo Jct., and Darlene (Scaffidi) Corrigan of California, as well as his brother Bob Conners (Patti) of Bridgeport.  Three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy Bill was retired from Weirton Steel Where he worked as a craneman in the Tin Mill.  He was a Christian by faith and a student of the Bible.  He was an ordained minister in the Family of God Fellowship. 

Memorial Service will be on Wednesday May 6, 2026, from 2 pm until time of service at 4 pm with Pastor John Westling officiating at Schuetz Funeral Home 235 Clifton Ave Mingo Jct. OH 43938. 

In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Brooke Co Animal Shelter 797 Mac Barnes Dr. Wellsburg, WV 26070.
