William “Billy” Ellsworth McNemar, 83, of Bloomingdale, Ohio, passed away at home on November 2, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1943, in Unionport, Ohio, to Delbert E. McNemar and Alice M. McNemar.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Wayne High School. He went on to build a long working life with Pepsi Cola in Wintersville, where he worked first as a driver and later as a supervisor. He was the kind of man who believed in doing the job right and setting an example through hard work.
He was known as someone who was stubborn as a mule, but just as caring and loving as he was determined. Bill had a goofy side, loved telling stories, and was a good role model to the people around him. He and his wife, Donna Jean, shared 60 years of marriage, a lasting partnership filled with humor, affection, and a lifetime of shared memories.
Bill enjoyed wood working, watching Ohio State, and Steelers Football, working outside, gardening, and time at the beach. He also liked cooking his familiar favorites, especially mac and cheese and chili. He took pride in the houses he built, and above all, in his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Some of the moments his family will hold closest are the simple, happy ones that made Bill so special. He took the grandchildren around on the tractor and made ordinary days memorable. His first grandchild was born on his 50th birthday, a moment that always stood out in family memories. There was the time he was changing Zach’s diaper and Zach peed in his pocket, a story that became part of the family’s laughter. His easy response, “Oh well,” fit him perfectly. He was known for planting plants with determination, for making people laugh, and for teasing Donna Jean by tickling her feet and calling out, “Oh Donna Jean.”
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Jean McNemar; and by their daughters, Annette McNemar, Lisa Smith, and Denise Moores, all of Bloomingdale, Ohio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Alica Shurden, Samantha Andriano, Kaleigh Trikones, Zachary Smith, Taylor Jones, Makenna Moores, and six great grandchildren. Each of them carries forward memories of his stories, his humor, his love, and the steady presence he brought to family life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert E. McNemar and Alice M. McNemar.
Bill will be remembered as a hardworking man, a builder, a storyteller, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and someone who brought warmth and laughter to the people closest to him. His family will miss his voice, his sayings, his playful spirit, and the many everyday moments that made him one of a kind.
