Vicki Ann May, 69, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2026, at Trinity West ER. Born on April 14, 1956, in Steubenville, Ohio, Vicki’s life was one marked by devotion to her family, passion for her community, and a spirit filled with warmth and kindness.
Vicki was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Kovarik) Kennedy, and she was preceded in death by her brother Dennis Kennedy. She leaves behind a legacy enriched by those she treasured most—her loving husband Robert Everett May, her three devoted children Scott Kennedy of Steubenville, Becky (Justin) May of Steubenville, and Joni May of East Liverpool. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren—Ron, Mya (Hunter), Michael, Malachi, and Kyleigh—and a great-grandmother to sweet Opel. Alongside her human family, she shared her home and heart with five cats and one dog, companions who mirrored her gentle nature, and Volunteereing at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter, and rescuing strays along with her son Scott.
Vicki’s career was as diverse as it was meaningful. She lent her problem-solving skills as a Medicare Call Representative for CVS, thoughtfully navigating the complexities of healthcare with compassion and patience. Before that, she worked with Cutler Hammer in Electrical Breakers and Design, demonstrating intelligence and creativity. Additionally, Vicki touched the lives of many as a substitute lunch lady at Big Red High School, where her kindness and nurturing spirit were deeply appreciated by the students.
An eager learner, Vicki earned an Associate’s Degree, which fueled her curiosity and strengthened her dedication to personal growth. One of her proudest accomplishments was her role as a founding member of La Belle Neighbors Who Care, a testament to her commitment to community and the well-being of those around her.
Vicki’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She loved to kayak, finding tranquility on the water that expressed her adventurous and free-spirited nature. Gardening was a true delight, where she nurtured life and beauty with the same care she showed to family and friends. Her affection for cats was well-known, reflecting her gentle soul and tender-hearted approach to life.
Her passing was sudden and deeply felt, caused by an unexpected natural event related to an arteriovenous malformation (AVM). The loss of Vicki is profoundly mourned by all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the love she gave so freely and the memories she created.
Vicki Ann May was a beacon of light, strength, and grace. She embraced life with open arms and leaves behind a legacy defined not only by her accomplishments but by the love she sowed steadfastly within generations. Her family and friends hold her memory close, forever grateful for the precious moments and the loving example she set.
Though she is no longer with us, the gardens she tended, the quiet water paths she kayaked, and the hearts she touched continue to glow with the warmth of Vicki’s enduring spirit. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
