Suzie Joe Viera, Steubenville Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 5th, 2021 at the age of 60. She was born in Gary, Indiana on September 20, 1960. After graduating from Martins burg High School, Martinsburg WV in 1978, she attended college at Potomac State and West Liberty Colleges in West Virginia earning a bachelors degree in business. She worked as an auditor for Highmark Blue Cross for a number of years.
She is survived by two dear brothers— Monty Joe Isner (Steubenville OH) and Dannyjoe Carter, and his wife Susie (Las Vegas, NV). She is also survived by her two kitties, T'Pau, keeler, and Khan. She mothered many cats through the years with such creative names as Natasha Anastasia Lucretia Badroulbadour Poo and Ichabod Ebenezer Badroubadour Poo.
She has been a dear close friend to the family of Blaine and Janet Gross (Morgantown, WV)— Karen and her husband David Fitzpatrick (Morgantown WV), Jeffrey Gross and his wife Elizabeth Williamson (Essex Junction, VT), and Diane Gross (Morgantown, WV). Becoming a high school friend of Karen, she was quickly “adopted”by the entire family. She shared many family celebrations, Mountaineer games and Christmas holidays with the Grosses
Suzie Joe, nicknamed “Joe-mama” or Spock, had a wry sense of humor, bringing her own brand of hilarity to any story. She was wonderfully unconventional. She approached new situations with a contagious childlike joy. She found great amusement in many things: star trek (especially Spock and the original series), basketball (loved the Utah Jazz), Mountaineer football, her Steelers, her Pirates (“Pie-rats”), watching endless reruns of Ancient Aliens, archeology, anything Egyptian, cold brews, cheese, any B-movie (the more B the better), baking cookies for her friends. She loved the ocean, trips to the beach, and “catching rays” at every opportunity. She traveled to Egypt to see the Pyramids, cruise the Nile and visit ancient ruins. She loved her trips to New York City and Paris.
She was the life of the party and so fun to be with. She brightened the world more than a little. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
