Susan Marie Vacheresse, a woman whose life was marked by strength, resilience, and an unwavering warmth, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born on January 14, 1964, in the close-knit community of Bethany, West Virginia, Susan was a beacon of love and determination throughout her vibrant 62 years.
A proud graduate of Brook High School’s class of 1981, Susan went on to dedicate her skills and heart to Ohio Valley Industrial Services, where she worked as a seamstress. Her talent and dedication were mirrored not only in her professional life but also in her personal passions. She was an avid lover of arts and crafts, fishing, camping, golfing, and enjoying the simple joys of bingo. These hobbies brought her endless joy and a sense of community, contributing to the rich tapestry of her life.
Susan was known far and wide as a strong woman who faced every obstacle head-on, always maintaining a warm smile despite any pain she endured. Her resilience was a constant inspiration to those around her. She treasured cooking family meals and hosting holiday parties, moments she cherished deeply and shared generously. Among her proudest accomplishments was her heartfelt contribution to her church, where she regularly donated baked goods, a testament to her generosity and community spirit.
Her life, though beautifully vibrant, was touched by the challenge of cancer, which ultimately led to her passing. Throughout this ordeal, Susan’s enduring spirit never waned, embodying grace under pressure.
Susan is survived by her loving daughter, Shannon Marie Bartz of West Virginia, who carries forward her mother’s legacy of strength and kindness. She was also blessed with the companionship of three close friends—Helen Smith of Amsterdam, Janet Franttini of Mingo Junction, and Wilsie Galino—who stood steadfast by her side, offering love and support. Alongside her human loved ones, Susan’s beloved fur babies Luke, Dutchess, and Milo brought her joy and comfort, and they remain cherished parts of her story.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie (Adams) Brady, her devoted husband George Edward Vacheresse Jr., and her beloved fur baby Boo. Though they are no longer here, their memories live on lovingly in the hearts of all who knew her.
Susan Marie Vacheresse’s life was one of courage, warmth, and generous spirit. She faced life’s trials with grace and shared its blessings with an open heart. Her legacy will endure in the family, friends, and countless lives she touched with her smile and steady strength. In honoring her memory, those who loved her will continue to celebrate the remarkable woman she was—a true testament to perseverance, love, and unwavering kindness.
