Sophia Decesare

Sophia DeCesare, 90, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on August 16th, 2023.  Born November 25, 1932 in Steubenville Ohio, Sophia was proceded in death by her parents the late Velko and Mara Radulovich, her loving husband off 66 years, the late Edward DeCesare Sr. and her siblings the late Mitza Radulovich, Milan Radulov and Danny Radulovich.  She is survived by her loving sons Edward (Barbara) DeCesare of Smithfield, OH;  Carmen (Kathy) DeCesare of Tierra Verde FL;  Joe (Judi) DeCesare of Steubenville OH;  Lee DeCesare of Wintersville, OH;  and Jim (Diane) Craig of Las Vegas, NV.  And for the last 8 years concidered Rich (Shawna) Ortiz her care givers as a son.   Sophia was a proud grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Sophia was a kind, beautiful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was best known for her devotion to family and her steadfast faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.   She was a devoted and loving wife to Ed for 66 years.    She touched many lives with her passion to preach the good news of the kingdom..  She was kind, sharp, clever and ever willing to help those in need.      She never missed an opportunity to share a joke.  Sophia was an avid reader and knowledge seeker.   She loved to laugh, share a smile and truly enjoyed life.   She embraced everyday with gratitude and appreciation.

Sophia will be missed greatly.  She was loved and an abundance of blessing to every life she touched with her steadfast faith, quick wit and genuine kindness.  Her spirit and strength live on in the  lives she touched with the love, wisdom, and beauty she spread so freely.

A memorial service will be held  at Sunday August 27 at  2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 962 Two Ridge Road Wintersville, with Rudy Puskarich presiding.  The service will also be available on zoom.  For information please contact joedecesare@yahoo.com  The family is being assisted by Schuetz Funeral Home Mingo Junction.
