Skylar Michael Haines, 23, born May 4, 2002, of Mingo Jct., Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2026. His untimely departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, as he left this world to be with his beloved pap.
A graduate of Indian Creek High School’s Class of 2021, Skylar was a young man whose life was marked by both dedication and kindness. He was proud to have earned his driver’s license, a milestone that brought him great joy and independence. Throughout his career, Skylar contributed his talents and work ethic at Van Flesher Scrap Yard and at Scaffidi's Restaurant, demonstrating a dependable and conscientious approach to his responsibilities.
From the earliest days of his life, many fond memories were cherished of him spending time at the park and going places, moments that highlighted his smart and loving nature. He was a private individual but known among family and friends as someone always ready to help and offer support. His personality shone through in his steadfast commitment to his siblings, serving as a role model and always being there when needed.
Skylar enjoyed spending time with his friends, finding joy and comfort in those close connections. His integrity, compassion, and thoughtful spirit made him respected and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving parents Brandon (Marcy Fisher) Haines and his mother, who remember him with deep affection and pride. His siblings Jace (Cheyenne) Haines of Follansbee, Kylee Haines of Mingo Junction, and Alanna (Ivan) Gutierrez of Hawaii, Tyler Haines; carry forward his memory alongside niece Adalynn Haines. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Debra Haines and maternal grandfather Jim Lathem of Mingo Junction.
Skylar was preceded in death by his girlfriend Mya Taylor, paternal grandfather Pinky "Chuck" Kolling, and maternal grandmother Dorothy "Sissy" Lathem. Their memories remain intertwined with his, providing a foundation of love and history that he treasured.
A visitation will be held on April 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schuetz Funeral Home, located at 235 Clifton Avenue, Mingo Junction, Ohio 43938. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to honor Skylar’s life and legacy.
Skylar Michael Haines will be missed and loved very much, his spirit living on in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, support, and a quiet strength that will continue to inspire those left behind.
