Rev. Jackie Allen Klinesmith Sr., affectionately known as "Jack," passed away on June 17, 2026, at Allegheny General due to complications of surgery. Born at home in Bloomingdale, Ohio, on November 14, 1941, he was a man whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and community service.
Jack’s journey began with his graduation from Wayne High School in Bloomingdale, Ohio. From there, he dedicated thirty years of his life working as a crane man at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Mingo Junction BOF. However, it was his calling as a pastor, beginning in 1982, that defined much of his legacy. He ministered with devotion at various churches, most notably the Amsterdam Community Church of God, where he shared God's love and teachings with unwavering commitment.
A character known for his humor and warmth, Jack was an exceptional presence who could brighten any room with his wit and playful teasing. Those who knew him fondly recall his love of the color red, his fondness for vanilla ice cream, and his favorite biblical character, Joshua. His joys extended to simpler pleasures: playing cards with friends and family, savoring root beer, and marveling at the beauty of God's creation. Above all, his love for God was paramount, guiding his every action and decision.
Jack’s proudest accomplishments spanned both personal and communal realms. Becoming a minister was a pinnacle of his life, but he also cherished flying remote-control airplanes—a hobby that brought him immense joy. Always eager to serve, he volunteered tirelessly in nursing homes and church building projects, embodying the spirit of a truly busy and generous man.
He was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife of five years, Carol Ann (Gaulesky) Vandine-Klinesmith, who shared in his later years. Also mourning his loss are his sons: James Klinesmith of Tennessee, Jerry (Cheryl) Klinesmith of Magnolia, Ohio, and John (Becky) Klinesmith of Bloomingdale, Ohio, Ten grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eugene "Ted" and Anita Klinesmith; his first wife of 55 years, Sharon Louise (Bonecutter) Klinesmith; and his son, Jackie Allen Klinesmith Jr. He also joins his five brothers—Gene, Bill, George, Walter Klinesmith—and cherished family members Polly Lawrence and June Thorton, who passed before him.
A memorial service celebrating Rev. Jackie Allen Klinesmith Sr.’s life and legacy will be held on July 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Amsterdam Community Church of God, located at 8247 Bear Road Southeast, Amsterdam, Ohio 43903.
Fondly remembered for his loving and loyal nature, Jack once asked, “What are we going to do today?”—a phrase that encapsulates his spirited approach to life and his unwavering readiness to engage with the world around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact remains indelible in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
