Paul Gilbert Youst

Paul Gilbert Youst, lovingly known as “Whisle,” passed away on September 21, 2026, from natural causes. He was born on October 15, 1948, in Bellaire, Ohio.

Paul was a graduate of Bellaire High School, Class of 1967. He also served in the Navy. He spent much of his working life as a dedicated and hardworking man. Paul worked for 26 years in the coal mines, including with Saginaw Mine, a subsidiary of Oglebay Norton. From 1993 until the age of 72, he also worked at Tri-Son Concrete in Bellaire.

Paul enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He liked fishing, hunting, spending time with his family.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, and the way he loved to tell jokes. Among the things that meant the most to him were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of great pride and joy in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Youst, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his daughter, Paula Pedelose and her husband, Thomas, of Shadyside, and his son, Paul Youst III, of Shadyside. His memory will also be treasured by his grandchildren, Austin Pedelose and his wife, Miranda, of Moundsville, Zane Pedelose and Austine Kinney of Norton, Ohio, and Nathan Pedelose of Shadyside. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Hayley Jo Pedelose, Kylie Pedelose, MacLain Friede, and Macoy Friede. He was deeply loved by his family, and they will carry his memory with them always.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, William Youst; his mother, Helen Schramm; his sister, Sharon Youst; and his brothers, William Youst, Butch Youst, and Steve Hepe.

Paul will be remembered with love for his hardworking life, his laughter, and the time he shared with those closest to him. His family and friends will miss him dearly and hold close the many memories he gave them. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
