Melvin "Mel" Guy Holmes Jr.

Melvin "Mel" Guy Holmes Jr. 49, of Moundsville, WV, passed away on Sunday June 28th, 2026. He was born on July 31, 1976 in Glen Dale to Betty Jo Holmes and Melvin Sr.

Melvin is precede in death with his Maternal grand parents Norman and Modesta Wright.

Melvin is survived by his Mother Betty Jo Holmes, step father Emanuel Brown and biological father Melvin Holmes Sr. Melvin had two brothers Norman Holmes of Moundsville; Brian and Amber Brown of Virginia Beach VA, one sister Nicole(Jamie ) Bell of McMechen, WV (four children) Brandon Laughman of Martins Ferry, Cody Holmes of Moundsville, Brittany Holmes of Finleyville PA, and Aubrey Holmes with his former wife Amy Holmes of Waynesburg, PA; six beautiful granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin loved football, fishing and taking adventures that challenged him.  Melvin was the light of family gatherings and did anything to put a smile on his friend and family faces. 

Melvin was employed at Belmont Solid Control as a supervisor.  Melvin was hard working and devoted to his job.  He was not afraid to get dirty to get the job done.

We may have lost a son, brother, nephew, father, husband, a pap, uncle and a friend.  We know he will not return but we have the memories he created and will not be forgotten, forever in our hearts. 

Family and friends will be received at Schuetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC 4719 Jacob Street on Friday July 10, 2026 from 4 to 8 pm
