Mark Steven Garza, 69 of Steubenville, Ohio. July 30, 1957- October 9, 2026 Survived and loved by his mother Doris (Honea) Yost of Sebring, FL, sisters Linda (Clyde) O'Dell of Mingo Junction, and Kathy (George)Ridenour of Sebring Fl, bonus sisters Susan (Duke) Jordan and Kathy Reed of Follansbee, nieces Laurie (Lonnie) Shepard, Julie (John) Haner, Carrie (Tyler) Benzel, Heather (Bo) Jackson, Melissa Garza, and nephews Matt (Loren) Garza, Dustin (Ashley) Ridenour, Andy Ridenour, and Brian Garza, 16 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by Father Jack Garza of Equality IL, stepdad Ken Yost and brothers Mike Garza of Sebring FL, and John Garza of Okeechobee, FL, and his companion Jim Reed.
He was an active member in the Fort Steuben Kennel club and Steel Valley Chihuahua Fanciers club. Mark enjoyed the life of a bachelor, but he was always at every family gathering, usually barefoot and bringing presents. He was a giver of both himself and physical gifts, Giving brought him JOY, so much in fact that he couldn't contain his excitement and gave so many hints that you knew what was in the box before you opened it!
He was always up for an adventure. Whether it be driving across the country to deliver a puppy or hiking thru the woods and swinging on vines or donning the Santa suit and delivering presents to his great great nieces and nephews. He sang at most of the local nursing homes over the years, and the Victoria Theatre and SageBrush. At age 60 he got his EMT certificate so the Friendship Cluster dog show wouldn't be postponed.
The youngest of 5, he grew up right along with his nieces as the fun-loving uncle who enjoyed roller skating, volleyball, softball, sled riding, singing and dancing. He could build anything he set his mind to, even turned his truck into Clifford the big red dog for a Christmas parade.
Mark had a refined palette; he loved good food and a good laugh. He had a style all his own: he was either dressed to impress from the feather in his hat to the tip of his shiny boots or he was barefoot in shorts,
He was a man of many favorites, and he enjoyed pretty things, but his pride and joy were his dogs. He got interested in dog shows as a teenager showing Mastiffs with his friend Mrs, Fitzgerald (which is where his kennel name Rumblin' Eko originated.) He later got interested in chihuahuas and over the years has several champions under his lineage.
He never got over the seizure of his beloved dogs or found a moments peace in the silence that followed. Although he tried to enjoy his life without them, the silence of an empty house and a lonely lap was too much for his heart to bear. He went home to his lord and savior on Friday morning and leaves an everlasting hole in the hearts of both his loved ones and the dog community that will never be filled. He was one of a kind and was most definitely “good enough”
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future; the family is working it out. Schuetz funeral Home is assisting the family.
