Mark Charles Allen, 79, of McMechan, West Virginia, passed away on April 24, 2026, at Moundsville Healthcare. Born July 21, 1946, in Wheeling, he lived a life defined by dedication, skill, and service to others.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. and Bernice G. (Mathlage) Allen. His longtime partner, Mary “Liz” Clatterbuck passed away a day later. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Marie Allen of Hampstead, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Shayla and Nancy; and his sister, Deanna Mary Allen Hupp of Beaver, Pennsylvania.

A 1964 graduate of Sherrard High School, Mark continued his education at Blairsville Auto Mechanic School before beginning a long and successful career with OS Hill. He started as a mechanic and later advanced to Parts Department Manager, earning respect for his technical expertise, leadership, and work ethic.

In addition to his professional work, Mark was known for his competitive spirit in shooting sports, as well as pool tournaments, achieving a high level of success in both that brought him recognition and awards. A member of the Masonic Order, Wheeling Lodge #5, West Virginia Grand Lodge, he valued fellowship and tradition.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. His commitment to shooting sports extended beyond competition; he devoted many hours to mentoring young shooters and ROTC cadets in weapon safety, reflecting his deep sense of responsibility and community service.

Those who knew Mark cherish the memory of a man who was witty, possessed a sharp sense of humor, and had a wealth of knowledge. He was a factual and straightforward individual, qualities that endeared him to family and friends alike.A graveside service to honor Mark’s memory will be held at a later date, to be announced, at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens in the Masonic Section. As we remember Mark Charles Allen, we celebrate a life marked by integrity, skill, and the warmth he extended to those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through his family, friends, and all whom he mentored and inspired. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
