Leo Joseph Bremer

Leo Joseph Bremer, 56, of Bellaire, Ohio, passed away on September 25, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born on February 3, 1970, in Bridgeport, Ohio, Leo was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. He built a working life through his time at West Point in Triadelphia and on the road doing asphalt, and he was also proud of driving truck. He loved to travel, and the road suited a man who knew many people and enjoyed the company of friends wherever life took him.

Leo will be remembered as a loyal, loving, respected, and very brave man—a fighter with a deep love for animals and, above all, for his daughters. His proudest accomplishments were his daughters, and those who knew him could see how central they were to his life. He took his girls with him everywhere he went, sharing with them the everyday moments and adventures that meant so much to him.

He found happiness in the things that reflected his spirited and unmistakable personality. Leo enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, motorcycles, banana ice cream, graham crackers, and time spent with his friends. He was a fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd, loved jokes and making people laugh, and admired eagles flying in the sky. He was very supportive of the military and had a special love for the American flag and Americana items.

At the heart of Leo’s life was his family. He is survived by Bettina Huff of Bellaire, his beloved companion of 23 years, whom he affectionately called his “monkey girl,” a nickname born from a stuffed monkey he gave her for Valentine’s Day. He is also survived by their daughters, Megan Bremer and Hailee Bremer, both of Bellaire, Ohio, who were the great pride and joy of his life. He will also be remembered by his friends, Michell Safreed and John Luckette, and by his step-brothers Daniel Clark, Rich Clark, two step sisters Moria Bitzer, Elizabeth Deck, and many other friends and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Bremer and Mona (Lash) Bremer; his daughter, Hope Ann Bremer, who died on March 25, 1998, and his brother, Bruce Bremer; 

Leo leaves behind the memory of a man who loved deeply, stood by the people he cared for, and met life with courage. His laughter, his stories, his patriotism, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends will be held close and remembered always. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
