It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James F. Littleton Sr., lovingly known as "Sarge," who left us on June 30, 2025, at his home. Born on January 17, 1946, in Bellaire, OH, James embodied the essence of a simple man with a heart full of laughter and joy.
James was not just a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend; he was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. His spirit was infectious, often filling the room with his unique sense of humor, telling jokes with a chuckle even if he was the only one laughing. Those moments will be cherished forever, a reminder of his playful nature and his ability to make the best of every situation.
A dedicated member of the Eagles in Moundsville, WV, and Bellaire Eagles #371, James found camaraderie and connection within these communities. His friendships and the bonds he created through shared laughter and joyous memories will resonate deeply within the hearts of many.
James's legacy will live on through his beloved wife of 60 years, Christine "Chris" Elaine (Maskivish) Littleton, whose love and companionship were central to his life. Their union brought forth a family that he adored, including his two sons, James F. (Angela) Littleton Jr. of Mississippi and Ronald Littleton of Bellaire, OH. He was proud of his grandchildren, including Whitten Littleton and Jimmy (Amber) Littleton III from Mississippi, and Brittney Littleton from Mississippi, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he cherished his great-grandchildren: Willow, Gage, Paige, Deegan, Ryker, and Laiklyn, who were undoubtedly the apples of his eye.
James is survived by three loving sisters—Sandy Cilli of St. Clairsville, Dianna (Charles) Coss of Steubenville, and Darlene (David) Hall of Shadyside—who will carry on his memory. He also leaves behind special niece and nephew, Robin Maskivish and Vince Maskivish, as well as his loyal companion pups, Ben and Bandit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Sr. and Vera E. (Hepburn) Littleton, his beloved granddaughter Britain Littleton, and his sister Patricia Grzeszczak. Each of these losses carved a space in his heart that never dimmed, as love intertwined with memories of their laughter and lives.
James F. Littleton Sr. will be loved and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, unique sense of humor, and kind spirit have left a lasting imprint on the hearts of family and friends alike, reminding us all of the beauty of a life well lived. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
