Gail Marie Freund

Gail Marie Freund, 84, a joyful spirit beloved by her family and friends, passed away on December 14, 2025, at her home. Born on July 14, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, Gail was a proud graduate of Wintersville High School and dedicated her life to nurturing her family and community.

Throughout her life, Gail exemplified a heartfelt commitment to service, particularly through her role working for Cross Creek Township until her retirement caring for the Cross Creek Township Cemetery’s and parks. Her dedication to this role reflected her deep respect for history and the memories of those who had come before her. Gail was also a cherished member of Finley Church, where she actively participated in community life, forging lasting bonds with fellow congregants.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Louis Thomas Freund, and her children: John (Joanie) Wiedaman of Richmond, Raymond (Tasha) Freund of Bloomingdale, Margaret (Dan) Schmitt of Piedmont, Louis (Karen) Freund of Kentucky, Karla Freund of Rittman, Dusty Freund of Cleveland and her loving dog Minnie. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Alma Stillwagon; her beloved daughter, Jane McDonald; her brother, Gilbert Stillwagon and many horses that brought joy to her life.

Gail will be remembered as a vibrant and loving woman whose life was a testament to the values of family, friendship, and community. Her joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Gail will be cremated and there will be no services at this time. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
