Debbie (Kubat) Bensie of Rush Run passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville surrounded by her loved ones. Debbie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Joel Bensie, her two daughters, Joelle and Heather Bensie, her grandchildren, Autumn Grafton, Ashton and Trenton Bensie, and her beloved Granddog, Reedus. Debbie was born on March 11, 1956. Debbie was preceded in death by her big brother, Edward “Boots” Kubat Jr, her parents Edward Kubat Sr. (the Newtown Mayor) & Rosalie Kubat of Dun Glen, and her best friend, her golden retriever, Winnie.
Debbie was a bus driver at Bellaire City Schools for over 25 years and cherished all of her kids. She was the proud “Bawmaw” of the 4-H Varieties 4-H club and loved watching her granddaughter, Autumn, show her pig and rabbits, as well as twirl her baton. Debbie enjoyed attending Horrorhound and meeting celebrities. She was an “Honorary Member of the Mystery Science 3000 Club”, a big fan of Sven Gooley, loved quoting the movie THE BURBS “Sardine”?, NHRA Races (John Force) and a self-proclaimed Humane Officer.
Debbie loved to share memories of growing up in Dun Glen and attending Buckeye West. Her love for her #1 Co-Sin (Tina Edgehouse Freeland), childhood friends, horses, and golden retrievers could not be matched.
There will be no funeral services per the family’s request. A dinner to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held at the Rush Run Christian Union Church on Saturday April 26 from 4pm to 6pm. The family invites friends and family to attend, share stories, and enjoy some of Debbie’s favorite dishes (like HALUSHKI)!
Donations can be made in Debbie’s name to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
