Listen to Obituary

Daryl Lee  Ellsworth, born November 18, 1977, in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 24, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital. Daryl’s sudden departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Daryl was the beloved husband of Susan Maria (Spicker) Ellsworth of 17 years, with whom he shared a loving and enduring partnership. He was the devoted father of Domonique Ellsworth, Dimitris Briggs, Heavenly Ellsworth, Precious Ellsworth, Daryl Lee Ellsworth Jr., and Liberty Ellsworth. Daryl’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He cherished every moment with his children, finding purpose and happiness in their achievements, laughter, and presence. He is also survived by his sister Renee' Homes, his father Robert Ellsworth, and his mother Diane (Miller) Ellsworth. Though preceded in death by his daughter Starbria Ellsworth, the love Daryl carried for his family, both present and departed, was unwavering and unconditional.

A proud graduate of St. Clairsville High School, Class of 1996, Daryl went on to earn his Associate Degree in Business Education and Sports. His professional journey led him to a valued role as an Auto Detailer at Attention to Detail on Wheeling Island, where his hard work, dedication, and strong work ethic earned the respect of his colleagues and customers alike.

Daryl’s passion for athletics was evident throughout his life. An enthusiastic supporter of Ohio State, he loved football, baseball, and track. He always made sports a central part of daily life, both as a fan and an active participant. Some of his proudest moments came from coaching his son’s baseball team for two years, investing his time and guidance into guiding young athletes and strengthening community bonds.

Family, however, was the heart of Daryl’s world. Known for his generous spirit, Daryl was someone you could always rely on—a good shoulder to cry on, someone who could bring laughter in difficult times, and a person who never hesitated to stand by his loved ones. He fought through life’s hardships with resilience, determination, and an enduring sense of hope. Daryl loved deeply and worked tirelessly to be present for all his children, exemplifying the true meaning of commitment and love.

Daryl’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who knew him best. His ability to never give up, to continually support and uplift others, and to find joy in the simple pleasures of family and community leaves a lasting legacy.
