Candice Kay Gulick

Candice Kay Gulick, lovingly known as “Hoot,” passed away on October 12, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center North. She was 52. Born on December 16, 1973, in Steubenville, Ohio, Candice lived with a free spirit and a care-free nature that left a lasting impression on the people who knew and loved her.

Candice attended Millers Port High School in Buckeye Lake. She was a homemaker whose life was centered on the people she loved most. Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, and she also took pride in joining the Navy Seal Cuddetts. She was known as a loving mother and grandmother, and she shared a special bond with her service dog, Link, whom she cared for as the best mommy.

She enjoyed simple, happy times and made many memories with her family. Candice loved taking her kids fishing, swimming in Buckeye Lake, going tubing, and playing paint ball. She also loved taking her niece Sam for walks. She was a creative person who loved to color and loved to draw. Those who knew her will remember doing cannonballs off Grandma’s high dive, her dumb and funny jokes, and the mischievous fun of throwing firecrackers at her cousin. These moments reflect the lively and unforgettable spirit she carried through life.

Candice is survived by her mother, Sally Donaldson; her step-father, Ira Hughes; her children, Katherine Kay Collins, Mark Collins Jr., and Christine Kobef; her grandchildren, Adrian, Holton, and Jason; her sister, Bobbie Cremeans; her brother, Aaron Lambert; and Jason, Christine Kobef’s husband. She will be remembered with deep love by her family, who shared many years, memories, and laughter with her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Lambert, and her husband, Owen Gulick.
