Listen to Obituary

Bobby G. Wilt, 63, of Rayland, Ohio, passed away at Liza’s Place on February 7th, 2026, following a nearly year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He met his illness with the same legendary grit he applied to every other challenge in his life, taking his final lap on his own terms.

A lifelong resident of the area, Bob was a mechanic by trade and a master of his craft. He was widely known for possessing a mechanical ear and touch that couldn’t be taught. He spent his entire life working with his hands, and he was most at home in the garage, where the sound of a well-tuned engine or a NASCAR race was always in the background.

For 34 years, he was the steady presence of his family alongside his wife, Tara. While he was a man of high skill in the garage, he was also a dedicated father and grandfather. He took great pride in all his grandchildren, but he shared a particularly special and unbreakable bond with his grandson, Jaxon, who was his absolute pride and joy.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Carol (Cominsky) Wilt, and his father, Bob Wilt.

He is survived by his wife, Tara Wilt; his three children, Jessica of Tiltonsville, Gregory (Amanda) of Deshler, and Zachary (Mykailah) of Yorkville; and his five grandchildren, Casey, Chase, Clay, Gemma, and Jaxon. He also leaves behind his brothers, Craig Wilt and Bill (Erin) Wilt of Rayland, and his sister, Lisa Selby of Spring Hill, Florida, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends who respected his talent and his tough spirit.

In keeping Bob’s wishes, private services are being arranged by the family. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
