Barbara Ann Dean

January 14, 1940 — June 20, 2025

Wheeling, WV

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Dean, who left us peacefully at the age of 85 on June 20, 2025. She was the heart of our family, a constant source of strength, and the one person you could always count on to be on your side—no matter what.

She had a deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whose lives she filled with warmth, laughter, and home-cooked meals that tasted more like home than food. She loved her vast extended family and lifelong friendships. She never forgot a birthday; she never failed to express her joy or sympathy. With her, you always felt remembered.

A lifelong nurturer, she could make anything grow—from plants that spilled joyfully over their pots to the deep roots of love and tradition that now ground our family. She worried about all of us—often and out loud—but that worry was love in its most faithful form.

Known for her self-deprecating humor and gentle humility, she never sought the spotlight, but she shone in all the quiet ways that mattered most. Her life was centered around family and friends, and every day was shaped by connecting with the people she loved.

Bobbie is survived by her loving children, Michael (Dawn) Dean of Wheeling, Sandra Dean Stotsky of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Terri (Brian) Ganow of Marshall, Virginia. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Gabrielle Dean of Shadyside, Ohio, Michaelann Dean of Wheeling, Annamaria Dean of Wheeling, Brett Stotsky of York, Pennsylvania, Sidney Stotsky of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Benjamin Stotsky of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Brian Ganow, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, and Nicole Ganow of Middleburg, Virginia. She cherished her three great-grandchildren: Gnosis Vulgaris and Clarkson Kennedy of York, Pennsylvania, and Victoria Clark of Shadyside, Ohio.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, William Leroy and Hazel Eugenia (Rollins) Brawner, a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Bowman, and her former husband, Jerry M. Dean.

Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unconditional support. Her spirit lives on in the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely.
